Week 9 & 10 – The 52 Week Illustration Challenge

I’m not quite sure where the days/weeks are going at the moment. It only feels like 5 minutes since I last blogged about my drawings and I’m already behind. The problem is that I agonise about getting the drawing perfect but that all takes time so I am going to have to be content with just doing some easier drawings whilst I am busy with other things.

Week 9 – Baking ( I had such elaborate plans for this one and the sweetest little pencil sketch but I just couldn’t seem to get it right in a bigger illustration )

Week 9 Baking

Promarker, black fine liner and white gel pen ( which I realised after scanning I had smudged – Grrrrrr ).

Week 10 – Weekend. I have a Lego mad 6 year old boy who got the most enormous Lego set for his birthday so this is pretty much what my weekends look like at the moment.

Week 10 Weekend

Promarker.

My son was delighted with this one ๐Ÿ˜€

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  1. They are both so good! I have said it before, but I do really see your drawings working so well on cards for sale commercially. This cake could absolutely be a card in a fancy shop!

    1. Thank you so much. Not long before I read you comment I said to my husband that I wondered if I should try putting the cake picture on a card. Your lovely comment will push me on ๐Ÿ™‚ Hannah x

  2. Singing gently to myself: “Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last. Just kicking down the cobblestones. Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy.
Ba da da da da da da, feelin’ groovy”
(Simon and Garfunkel – for anyone who’s way too young to know).

Stop stressing my wonderful blogging friend. Your illustrations are perfection. LOVE the cake stand! … ADORE the cup of tea with the lego. It tickled me pink. It told everyone viewing it exactly what the story of your life was… you’re a mom, and that is your life as it was right then. LOVE it.!

Sending you hugs and love ~ Cobs.x

    1. Ah, now I’m sat listening to ‘The Sound of Silence’ and I’m not making reference to my kids playing quietly ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for such lovely feedback. The Lego picture really does sum up life at the moment (don’t tell anyone, but honestly I love Lego).

Bridge over troubled water has now come on – off to sing to myself……

      Love Hannah x

      1. LOL
Lego … I’m a total failure. BUT … what tickles me is the humour on little Cobs face when he hands me the Lego bucket with the words: “Make me somefing, Grammy” … then stands looking at me with his head titlted to one side, his eyes as wide as saucers and twinkling, and the biggest closed mouth smile I’ve ever seen on anyone. He KNOWS that I can’t do it. I’m useless with it … but he loves the panic on my face as I put my hand into the bucket and pull out random things which I cannot make anything of except a bloomin’ mess!

      2. The Males of the species seem to be better at Lego for some reason. Mr.Cobs can make the most incredible things with it, and yet … I’m there with a set of wheels, two flat pieces, one grey, one red and a little cone shaped thing which I have NO IDEA what the heck it is or what job it’s supposed to do, and I cannot make the start of anything. NURTHANG. I’m useless at it. That darn box really freaks me out when I see it…. I’m an artist, a crafter, a creater … and Lego beats the carp out of me every time.

      3. Yes, admittedly males do seem to have a better grasp of Lego but, blowing my own trumpet, my husband struggles with it even when following instructions whereas I’ve done so much of the blumming stuff that I have a reasonably good idea where the pieces will go. What really fills me with dread is when my son pulls out a set of instructions and expects me to go through the 2 enormous buckets of Lego to find all the pieces ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
